Last week, staff from the UCLA Nathanson Family Resiliency Center (NFRC) travelled to Washington D.C. to participate in meet and greets with elected officials and present on the current needs of Military Families.
UCLA NFRC Director Dr. Patricia Lester and Purdue University's Dr. Shelley Wadsworth presented at the "Military Families During War and Peace" lunch briefing. The presentation highlighted the joint efforts of these two public universities working to translate science into practice through intervention and educational programs. Senior Associate Director Dr. Lee Klosinski and Director of Training Dr. Catherine Mogil also represented the UCLA NFRC during the trip.
The UCLA NFRC was pleased to have the opportunity speak with representatives from more than 10 Congressional offices about the needs of Military and Veteran families during wartime and peacetime, and the responsibility we all have to support our national heroes and their families. The team also spent time at the White House with the staff of Joining Forces, an initiative started by First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden to bring opportunities and support to service members and their families.
